John Donohue is counsel to the firm and has practiced Customs and International Trade Law for almost 50 years.
He has in depth experience in virtually all areas of trade law including classification of goods, valuation, country of origin determinations; ruling requests; penalty investigations, federal False Claims Act and reverse False Claims Act, asset seizure and forfeiture and criminal investigations.
He has litigated numerous cases before the U.S. Court of International Trade and its predecessor, the U. S. Customs Court, and has appeared in federal district courts in Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, New Jersey, Illinois, and elsewhere. He has also appeared before the Department of Commerce and the U.S. International Trade Commission. He is a member of the Bars of the State Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia, as well as the U.S. Court of International Trade and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
For 25 years John was an adjunct professor of law at Seton Hall University School of Law, where he taught international trade law. He has written numerous articles on international trade issues and has lectured to the profession and before numerous trade organizations. He has twice been named to Philadelphia Super Lawyers.
John is a graduate of Providence College and the Catholic University of America School of Law, where he sits on the Board of Visitors, and he received a certificate in WTO law from Georgetown University School of Law.
Prior to beginning the active practice of law, he was an FBI Agent and served in the Bureau’s offices in Knoxville, Tennessee and Detroit, Michigan.
